High Pressure Safety Valve
One of the most popular and effective upgrades you can get, along with a three wick meths burner, the effective pressure is raised to about 20-25 psi, thus giving more power to the pistons but still within the safe working pressure of the standard boiler. The 20-25 psi valve is available in a 1/4 x 26 tpi thread for standard loco boiler, usually fitted in place of whistle when used with Water Top-up Valve. Also available in a 14 x 40 tpi thread to fit the our Premium High Pressure Boilers at 40-45 psi.

A cheaper alternative to the above for use
on standard early Mamod or current MSS boilers, this standard safety valve
has been up-rated to 20-25 psi for us by MSS. Ideal if you are going
to continue to fill your boiler through the safety valve hole and need to
remove the vale by hand.
3 Wick Meths
Burner
Improve the steaming of your loco with our 3 Wick Meths Burner, which when
combined with a High Pressure Safety Valve, will increase power and
running time to 15-20 minutes. We have introduced a new silicon rubber
bung with a breather tube for safety and a curved tip syringe for filling
and draining the tank.
Fits
in place of the original solid fuel burner tray. A few minor adjustments
with a small file may be required depending on how tight your loco is.
Comes complete with special silicone bung, spare wick, screw mounting nut,
curved tip syringe, special chassis spacer and full instructions
Only use Methylated Spirit in this burner.

Water Top Up
Valve
To
take advantage of the extra running time of the Meths Burner, this Water
Top Up Valve allows water to be pumped into the boiler a little at a time
during running without having to take the Safety Valve off. Use with
high temperature plastic feed pipe fitted to a water pump bottle or a large syringe.
Available in 1/4 x 26tpi thread for standard loco
boiler or 1/4 x 40 tpi for our Premium High Pressure Boiler.
Water Top Up Bottle
Use with our Water Top Up
Valve to easily top your boiler up during a steaming session. Just
feed the heat resistant nylon hose into the valve hole and the pump action
bottle provides enough pressure to force water into the boiler so you can
keep going all day if you want.
Steam Regulator
Kit
To
control the extra power or just to add extra control to speed, this
regulator kit contains an adaptor that fits into the whistle hole
and extends into the cab where a fine control regulator valve controls the
amount of steam that passes into the feed pipe to the pistons. Opening in
top of adaptor to take High Pressure Safety Valve
Comes with adaptor,
regulator valve and handle, copper pipe to forward and reverse block with
connection nipple and nut, a cap to close off existing steam feed under
dome, washers and full instructions. Some dismantling and minor
alteration to the cab front is required to fit this item.

in a pair, this kit is the most economic way to take full advantage of the
extra power generated from the Meths Burner and Higher Pressure Safety
Valve by adapting your standard pistons into more efficient 'O' ring
pistons and gland nuts and higher tension
cylinder springs, which combined reduces the amount of steam leakage and
lets more of the energy from the steam transfer to the drive wheels.
Comes
with profiled 'O' ring pistons, piston rods, replacement back caps and
front caps with 'O' ring gland nuts, higher tension cylinder springs and full instructions.
Requires dismantling of standard cylinders and pistons. Must be well
lubricated at all times during running with 460 compound steam oil from a
lubricator such as the one below.

Dead-Leg Displacement Lubricator
ensures 'O' ring pistons receive just the right amount of lubrication
during steaming.
It might seen odd but if you imagine water going down the
bath plug in a circular whirling motion - this is how the oil travels down
the inside surface of the tube whilst steam comes up the middle. As the
steam condenses in the cup, the oil floats to the top and down the
protruding tube. Excess water is sucked out using the curved tip
syringe supplied.
The lubricator is positioned at the front of the loco on the right of the
smoke box for easy removal of the screw cap. No soldering is required. The
special push fit 'T-piece' adaptor fits into the back of the forward and
reverse block and the steam feed pipe, which will need shortening, pushes
into the adaptor. Partial dismantling of the front portion of the loco is
required to fit this part. Comes full instructions. Only use 460 Compound
Steam Oil, see below.
460 Compound Steam Oil (30ml) Our
460 Compound Steam Oil is specially selected for use with our displacement
lubricator. Compound Steam Oil is different from normal oils as it
emulsifies with steam under pressure, which is ideal for lubricating 'O'
ring pistons.
However, it is also a very good general lubrication oil for other moving
parts on your loco. The oil is very thick and so best to warm it up by
rolling the bottle between your hands a few time to thin the oil ready for
pouring or injecting into the oil cup. The heat from the boiler then
keeps it thin enough to feed through the lubricator pipe. |

High Pressure Boiler
This is the highest spec boiler available
anywhere for your MSS or Mamod locomotive. Constructed from 18gsm
copper and silver soldered to withstand the higher temperature of a
gas burner, it operates at up to 45psi.
This is the only upgrade boiler that comes
complete with a 40tpi High Pressure Safety Valve and Water Top-up Valve,
Steam Regulator and pipe, and a Water Level Gauge with 40tpi screw cap on
top, in which place our Pressure Gauge and Siphon can be fitted.
Premium High Pressure Boiler
Our High Pressure Boiler with fittings as above but with the addition of
our special 0-50 psi Pressure Gauge and Siphon fitted.

our friends at Forest Classics, to be the best
available for your MSS and old Mamod locos.

Ceramic Burner has a special radiant element that creates an even and
consistent high temperature. The
Our unique Gas-Flow Cylinders have been
designed by a Formula 1 engine designer using dynamic gas-flow techniques to ensure the most efficient flow of steam through the
steam ports and cylinder blocks.
A higher tension spring holds the cylinder
and port faces, which have been specially lapped, tighter together to
ensure a better steam seal. The pistons are the same design as in our
Piston Upgrade Kits with 'O' rings, so these units will need good
lubrication. Our cylinders have end caps so the 'O' rings can be replaced
if necessary. Comes with a set of replacement fibre gaskets.
32mm Loco Steel Wheel Set
(pair)
A quality set of steel wheels for your 32mm
loco. These wheels are set on axels with special bearings that lock to the
chassis so less of the energy from the pistons is wasted in movement and
friction. Some dismantling of your loco is required.
