Roundhouse Engineering have a reputation for making some of the most successful precision engineered live steam model locomotives for the garden railway. The 'Basic Series’ is designed to appeal to ‘first time buyers’ who want a high quality, simple and reliable ready to go loco.

Offered in 32mm or 45mm gauge with slip-eccentric valve gear and gas firing these locos are capable of being easily enhanced by the customer, using the available accessory packs, and are available a wide variety of standard Roundhouse colours below.

Roundhouse Millie in Mid Brunswick Green

Millie is the first of the Roundhouse 'Basics Series' and is typical of the many open cab narrow gauge locos see around Britain. She is offered ready to run in a choice of colours and for either 32mm or 45mm gauge. Being externally gas fired and with a large boiler, Millie will give a good running time and is a powerful little loco.

Specification for Millie:

0-4-0 inside framed chassis.
Double acting slide valve cylinders.
Slip eccentric valve gear.
External gas firing.

Controls fitted as standard:

Steam regulator.
Safety valve.
Displacement lubricator.
Gas regulator.

Bertie

Roundhouse Bertie in Mid Brunswick Green

Bertie is typical of the style of Saddle Tank locos that were probably the most common type of small locomotive found on British narrow gauge railways. He is offered ready to run in a choice of colours and for either 32mm or 45mm gauge. Being internally gas fired Bertie is efficient and and powerful.

Roundhouse Sammie

Sammie, whilst freelance in design, is typical of the small and medium sized US Saddle Tank locos like Baldwin and Porter. He is offered ready to run in a choice of colours and for either 32mm or 45mm gauge. Being internally gas fired, Sammie is efficient and and powerful and is similar to Bertie in many respects.
